I am just reading a book called, "Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives", by Michael Newton. I recommend this book especially to those who have lost a loved one.
In the book, there is a story about someone who was recounting a previous death experience through a past life regression. In this particular case, the person under hypnosis recounts how they used their wedding ring to connect with their surviving loved one to reassure them that they will always be there for them in spirit and to comfort them during their grieving process.
The above story made me realize that not only did I lose a heart crystal in the ocean in the Bahamas to connect better with the Dolphins in 2004 (you can read the story here), but in 2005, I received an object from the ocean. One night, during another live-aboard trip to swim with wild dolphins, we had conch for dinner (the creatures that live in spiral conch shells) and they saved three of the shells. They placed them in bleach that night and the next day I cleaned one (a lot of work!) to take home. I realize now that the shell will also help me connect with the ocean and dolphins.
Anything we have on us for a period of time has an imprint of our energy. It enables our spirit, and the spirit those who have passed, to connect through time and space with that object, and those whose energy field encompasses the object.
It is not necessary to connect through an object, but it does make it easier when part of your energy exists where (and when) you want to go.
