It is very disappointing when family members and friends do not meet our expectations. In those cases, I have personally stopped having expectations of some people. I have learned to find new people to fulfill those roles we need in our lives. Once I made that decision, I was amazed how people showed up in my life to fill the holes in my life and heart over time...and they are not always in the same person (different aspects in different people). It was very upsetting for me to look for qualities in people they just did not have. I am more at peace now.
Expect love and support in your life, but be open to where it comes from.
