It was my second trip to swim with wild dolphins in the Bahamas in 2005, and we had just crossed the Gulf Stream into the Bahamas. We had our first dolphin encounter that afternoon.
We were in deep water (about 400-500 m deep) and had met two adults and a baby dolphin. After about 20 minutes I noticed a shark below us (it looked like a Tiger Shark). It looked small because it was far away; however, it started to spiral up towards us. Immediately, the two adult dolphins left the baby with us and, side by side, torpedoed down after the shark! We got picked up by the dive boat and the dolphins came back for the baby when it was safe...
