On the way home, I did see it again and in the last moment decided to stop. As I got closer, I saw that it was a young, long-eared owl. In my mind, I helped it to cross over (as, I have found that beings who are killed suddenly are often confused and need help to cross) and then felt that I was supposed to take the wing. Amazingly, the wing was in perfect condition even though the rest of the owl was, well, in poor condition. It looked like it had been there for a few days and the ground was wet. I went to my car to get a couple plastic bags and picked up the wing.
I used corn meal (used by Natives) as a desiccant to preserve the wing. I am not sure yet if, or how I am supposed to use the wing, but I certainly looked up the symbolic meaning of the owl. Linked to the meaning, I found the following wonderful affirmation on the site listed below and wanted to share it with others:
"I open my heart and soul to the truth,
And ask that my life’s journey be
illuminated before me.
I ask for the wisdom to see,
Even in the darkness of life’s challenges,
And the ability to manifest my true
path."
