When I first created this blog, I used an alias, "Sunyata", because, as an Engineer, I was uncomfortable letting my friends and family know my true thoughts related to spiritual and paranormal topics. Someone then said to me, "If they are true friends, they will accept you for who you are." They are right of course.
Why Sunyata?
When I was seven years old, my Father decided that he did not want me in Catholic school anymore because he was not Catholic. His family was Lutheran although he did not go to church or appear to practice religion. As a child, I did not understand why it mattered. I did not want to leave my friends in school. Changing schools greatly affected me and started me on my search of why there are religions and how, and why, they are different. This is how I began to discover my own truth.
In high school, I read a book on Buddhism where I came across the term Sunyata. I felt it represented my beliefs. In its most simple interpretation, it represents universal oneness. For more information, please read: http://www.buddhanet.net/budsas/ebud/sunnata/06.htm
